Diesel 4x4 Trucks
Weight
Engine
- OEM cylinder blocks and heads from 1 ton or smaller vehicles must be used.
- Intake and exhaust ports on cylinder heads must remain in stock location. Porting of OEM head is allowed but ports must remain in stock location.
- Exhaust must exit the truck either straight up or down.
- Two 3/8” bolts must be in exhaust, at 90 degrees from each other, as close to the turbo as possible.
- Air to air, water to air, and air to water intercooling is allowed.
Turbo/Fuel system
- Trucks are limited to one turbo.
- Turbo is to be limited to a maximum of 2.8” inlet with no more than .250” map width enhancement. No other provisions for allowing air into the turbo are permitted.
- Diesel Fuel only.
- Water injection is allowed. Water only. No alcohol or other foreign substances are allowed. An approved pump lube may be used.
- No injection of alternative fuels is allowed.
- No injection or induction of oxygenating agents is allowed.
- Injection systems are limited to no more than one “P” series injection pump. One barrel and plunger per cylinder only. Common rail systems may run two high pressure (CP3) pumps. Powerstroke powered trucks may run two high pressure oil pumps.
Transmission
- OEM transmission and transfer cases are required
- Must be from a one ton chassis or smaller.
Chassis
- OEM chassis is mandatory.
- The engine must be factory location.
- No wheel tubs, back-halves, or tube chassis.
- Flatbeds are allowed.
- Radiator must be in factory location.
- Full bodied trucks only. Must run all OEM appearing body panels.
- Hanging weight is permitted as long as weight does not extend forward more than 60” from the center of the front axle.
- A stock suspension with a minimum of 1” of travel is required.
- Reinforcements to stock chassis are permitted. Ladder bars and traction bars are permitted.
Hitch
- Maximum hitch height is 26” from the point of hook to the ground.
- Hitches with reinforcements are allowed.
- Bumper bars, if used, are allowed to extend past the point of hook.
- No trick hitches allowed.
- A minimum of a 3” wide by 3.75” long opening in the hitch is required.
- The hitch must be horizontal or parallel to the ground.
- Hitch must be solid on all directions.
- No loose clevises allowed.
Tires
1. DOT approved tires only. No cut or bar type tires.
Safety
- All drivers must wear a DOT approved helmet and SFI level 1 fire suit while hooked to the sled.
- All trucks will be equipped with a fire extinguisher within the reach of the driver.
- All trucks will be equipped with seat belts and must be in use while hooked to the sled.
- A 3/8” aluminum or ¼” steel loop must surround each u-joint in the driveline. Drive shaft loops are also required to “catch” the front and rear drive shafts in case of a u-joint failure.
- All trucks must be equipped with air shutter kill devices.
